Tatami-Style Bed Platform with Storage

Custom Tatami-Style Bed Platform with Built-In Storage

This custom tatami-style bed platform combines a raised sleeping area, lift-up storage compartments and coordinated wood-look cabinetry to make practical use of bedroom floor space.

The bedroom design features a raised wooden platform with a light wood-look surface and multiple fitted panels. The panels can be lifted to access separate storage compartments beneath the platform, providing concealed space for household belongings. The surrounding carpentry incorporates a matching headboard-style panel, while the adjoining full-height wardrobe features white cabinet fronts framed by wood-look finishes. Together, these elements create a coordinated built-in furniture arrangement for a residential bedroom.

Practical Under-Bed Storage and Space Planning

A custom tatami-style bed platform offers an alternative to a conventional standalone bed frame by combining the sleeping surface with storage space underneath. In this design, the lift-up panels provide access to individual compartments without requiring additional freestanding storage units. The divided storage layout allows different belongings to be organised within the platform structure.

The raised platform is positioned beside built-in bedroom cabinetry, making use of the available floor and wall areas. Its light wood-look appearance complements the adjacent wardrobe and surrounding furniture. With custom furniture design and fabrication, the platform dimensions, storage arrangement and overall bedroom layout can be planned according to the property's available space and daily requirements.
